- Wear and tear means minor, reasonable issues typical for the car’s age, such as rust, small dents, or scratches, but no major damage.
- Undamaged means there is no visible wear and tear or damage.

Yes, we buy cars with missing parts. However, we may ask for details about any parts that are missing. It's important to disclose any major missing parts, as this could impact your quote.
Here’s a guide to help clarify:
Complete car: Your car is considered complete if all major and minor parts are present. Don’t worry if small items like wheel trims, interior or body trims, badges, parcel shelves, aerials, spare wheels, or aftermarket audio players are missing, as long as they’re not excessively absent.
Major parts: These are parts that have value when recycled, such as the engine, electronic control unit, gearbox, bodywork, seats, battery, catalytic converter, and wheels. Please note, the catalytic converter must be an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) part, not an aftermarket replacement.
Minor parts: These are essential components like lights, mirrors, wipers, steering, braking, suspension, safety, and emissions parts.

No, your registration is not essential and this will not affect your quote. If you don’t have your registration we’ll ask you to provide personal identification to verify you are the owner the vehicle must have at least the vin tags if no registration plates

Yes, we do accept cars with outstanding finance. You will need to settle this before you accept the quote.
Documentation and regulations
Don’t worry if your car doesn’t have a registration, or if it has been cancelled, you can still sell your scrap car with us we will check it through the vin tag on the firewall of the vehicle.
If the car is still registered we will give you the plates back for you to deregister the car or we can change the ownership over and deregister it for you.
Yes, you must cancel your registration with an NZTA-approved agent when scrapping your car. This process removes your vehicle from the Motor Vehicle Register.
To cancel your registration, you need to complete the 'Application to Cancel Registration of Your Motor Vehicle' form (MR15) and submit it to an NZTA-approved agent, along with the vehicle’s registration plates.
You can identify an NZTA-approved agent by the NZ Transport Agency logo displayed at their location. Some of the approved agents include:
- The Automobile Association (AA)
- Post Shops (excluding number plates)
- Vehicle Inspection New Zealand (VINZ)
- Vehicle Testing New Zealand (VTNZ)
